Hints from Heloise

The Spokesman-Review

Dear Heloise: You mention using essential oils, but I have not been able to find them. Where can I get them? – Janet Goff, Huntsville, Ala.

Janet, essential oils can be found at many health-food stores, some grocery stores, aromatherapy stores and on the Internet.

When buying pure essential oils (these have not been cut with a carrier oil), there are several things to keep in mind:

•A true essential oil should be sold in an amber or brown glass bottle, or other dark glass. Light and heat are the nemeses of essential oils.

•Buy the best quality you can and the smallest bottle, since you usually use only a few drops at a time. One small bottle will last a long time!

•Most essential oils should not be put directly on your skin. They should be blended with a carrier oil such as sweet almond oil or castor oil. Heloise
