Gonzaga promotes Rice

Leon Rice has been promoted from assistant coach to associate head coach by Gonzaga men’s basketball coach Mark Few, it was announced Thursday.

Assistant coach Tommy Lloyd also has been elevated, although his title does not change, and Ray Giacoletti’s addition to the coaching staff was officially announced.

Rice takes over the position vacated by Bill Grier, who left to become head coach at the University of San Diego.

University of Idaho’s Darcy Collins (Kootenai HS) recorded the 10th-best heptathlon in Vandals history when she scored 4,673 points to place sixth out of 30 athletes competing at the Cal Invitational Multi-Events at Azusa-Pacific University in Azusa, Calif.
