The following summaries of voting records for Eastern Washington legislators are compiled by WashingtonVotes.org.

Simple majority: By a vote of 33 to 16, on Thursday, the Senate approved House Joint Resolution 4204, which proposes to amend the state constitution to allow a school levy to be approved by a simple majority. Currently, school levies can only be approved by a 60 percent supermajority. Voters must approve the measure, too.

Yes: Sens. Lisa Brown, D-Spokane; Chris Marr, D-Spokane.

No: Sens. Bob McCaslin, R-Spokane Valley; Bob Morton, R-Orient; Mark Schoesler, R-Ritzville.

Electronic voter registration: By a vote of 30 to 17 on Monday, the Senate approved House Bill 1528, which would allow voters to register to vote online with the secretary of state. To register, citizens must posses a valid Washington driver’s license or state ID card. Now awaiting Gov. Chris Gregoire’s consideration.

Yes: Sens. Lisa Brown, D-Spokane; Chris Marr, D-Spokane.

No: Sens. Bob McCaslin, R-Spokane Valley; Bob Morton, R-Orient; Mark Schoesler, R-Ritzville.

Cell phone driving ban: By a vote of 59 to 38 on Wednesday, the House approved Senate Bill 5037, which would prohibit the use of cell phones while driving, except if using a hands-free device or reporting illegal activity or other emergencies.

Yes: Reps. Alex Wood, D-Spokane; Timm Ormsby, D-Spokane; Don Barlow, D-Spokane.

No: Reps. Larry Crouse, R-Spokane Valley; Lynn Schindler, R-Spokane Valley; John Ahern, R-Spokane; Bob Sump, R-Republic; Joel Kretz, R-Wauconda; Steve Hailey, R-Mesa; David Buri, R-Colfax.

Sex education: By a vote of 63 to 34 on April 11, 2007, the House approved Senate Bill 5297, which would require schools to provide medically and scientifically accurate, age-appropriate sexual health education. Abstinence education must be included, but not at the exclusion of other materials,
