Softball

Freshman Jamie Hall hit a two-run double in the bottom of the fifth inning as Lake City topped Lewiston 10-5 Saturday in the first game of an Inland Empire League doubleheader in Coeur d’Alene.

The Timberwolves (10-4, 5-3) scored five runs in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

In the second game, senior Angela Pegram’s two-run triple in the seventh gave the Bengals a 3-2 win. Jessica Ulrich went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and also picked up the win for Lewiston (10-7, 6-6).

•Kellogg whipped Bonners Ferry (0-7, 0-5) in an Intermountain League doubleheader. Cody James went 5 for 5 with five RBIs as the Wildcats won the first game 29-0 in three innings. In game two, Kellogg scored 15 runs in the third inning and cruised to an 30-0 win. Chrissy Turbak went 3 for 4 with three RBIs to lead the Wildcats (8-5, 5-2). … Also in the IML, Timberlake swept visiting Priest River (2-11, 1-5) in a doubleheader. Kala Allred pitched a complete-game one-hitter as the Tigers won the first game 11-0. Allred also hit a three-run homer in the sixth. In game two, Timberlake (9-5, 5-0) built a 6-0 lead after three innings and coasted to a 10-0 victory. Allred hit her third home run of the season, a two-run shot in the sixth.

Baseball

Sophomore Brian Nelson pitched a complete game one-hitter while striking out 15 as Priest River (6-4, 4-2) blanked host Timberlake 2-0 in the first game of an Intermountain League doubleheader in Spirit Lake. In game two, the Tigers scored three runs in the fifth and won 5-3. Ty Wilkerson earned the win for Timberlake (1-12, 1-6) after allowing two hits in the complete game. … Elsewhere in the IML, Bonners Ferry swept host Kellogg (2-9, 1-6) in a doubleheader. The Badgers scored 12 runs in the fourth and won the first game 17-1. In game two, senior Josh Gatchell went 2 for 5 and knocked in three runs as Bonners Ferry (13-4, 5-0) won 12-3.

Track and field

The Coeur d’Alene boys and girls track teams finished first at the Super One Sports Cellar at Coeur d’Alene High School. On the boys side, Mike Armon finished first in the 1600 (4:39) and second in the 3200 (10:00) as the Vikings edged Lake City to take first place. Moscow took third, followed by Post Falls. For the girls, Anna Stone won the 800 (2:23.14) and the 1600 (5:20) and Marissa Armour won the shot put (32-10) and discus (97-11) as Coeur d’Alene took first place. Sandpoint finished second, followed by Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy.

•The Timberlake boys dominated the field at the Freeman Invitational, winning the team trophy with 112 points. The champion Tigers’ wins: the distance medley; 400 and 1,600 relays; Levi Powers in the 300 hurdles (41.70); Nick Puckett in the 200 (22.71); John Macklin in the pole vault (12-6); and Frank Lagrimanta in the 3,200 (9:57.72).
