Brewers 7, Pirates 5: At Milwaukee, J.J. Hardy snapped out of an early slump, going 3 for 5 with a two-run homer and four RBIs to help the Brewers beat Pittsburgh. Hardy entered batting .232, but broke a 0-for-11 streak with a two-run homer in the first inning.

Phillies 4, Nationals 2: At Washington, Jamie Moyer took a two-hit shutout into the ninth inning leading slumping Philadelphia past Washington.

Padres 11, Diamondbacks 6: At San Diego, Jake Peavy’s hitting was better than his pitching. The Padres’ ace drove in two runs with his first career triple and added a double for San Diego, which beat Arizona.

Giants 6, Cardinals 2: At San Francisco, Rich Aurilia’s two-run double in the sixth inning broke a tie, helping Noah Lowry to his first win of the season in the Giants’ victory over struggling St. Louis.

Astros 8, Reds 6: At Cincinnati, Luke Scott hit a bases-loaded double to highlight another eighth-inning rally by Houston, which completed a two-game sweep over the Reds.

Mets 11, Marlins 3: At Miami, Orlando Hernandez struck out 10 in seven innings, and Carlos Beltran went 4 for 6 with a home run to help New York beat Florida.

Cubs 3, Braves 0: At Atlanta, Rich Hill allowed four hits in eight scoreless innings, Michael Barrett and Aramis Ramirez backed him with solo homers, and Chicago defeated the Braves.

Dodgers 8, Rockies 1: At Denver, Mark Hendrickson got his first win as a starter since August 6, 2006, allowing one run in 5 2/3 innings in Los Angeles’ win over Colorado.
