Red Sox 7, Yankees 5: At Boston, David Ortiz homered, Alex Rodriguez didn’t, and Josh Beckett settled down after a rocky start to help Boston earn its second consecutive victory over New York. Rodriguez had his home run streak snapped at four games, finishing 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI single.

White Sox 7, Tigers 5 (10): At Detroit, Jermaine Dye doubled in the go-ahead run in the 10th inning and Chicago beat Detroit for its fourth straight win. Bobby Jenks pitched a perfect 10th for his sixth save in seven chances. Carlos Guillen hit a grand slam in the first for Detroit.

Twins 7, Royals 5: At Kansas City, Mo., Mike Redmond hit three opposite-field RBI singles and Minnesota rallied for a win over Kansas City. The Twins had a season-high 16 hits. Torii Hunter went 2 for 4 and scored two runs and Joe Mauer finished with two RBIs.

Devil Rays 6, Indians 5: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Jae Seo won for the first time since July, Ben Zobrist drove in two runs and Tampa Bay beat Cleveland. Al Reyes pitched a perfect ninth for his sixth save in six opportunities.

Rangers 7, Athletics 0: At Arlington, Texas, Matt Kata hit a three-run homer and Kameron Loe combined with four relievers on a shutout as Texas beat Oakland and snapped a three-game losing skid.

Orioles 5, Blue Jays 2: At Baltimore, Adam Loewen combined with three relievers on a seven-hitter, and Baltimore beat Toronto for its seventh win in eight games. Miguel Tejada drove in two runs for the Orioles, who clinched their third straight series win.
