The Seattle Mariners kept their lineup mostly intact Tuesday, only sending right-handed reliever Julio Mateo to Philadelphia for 26-year-old minor league shortstop Jesus Merchan. Merchan hit .330 with 44 RBIs and seven homers in 81 games at Double-A Reading. Mateo hasn’t pitched in the majors since early May. For full story, see Page 4.
