Bayview grows with convoy

Herb Huseland Correspondent

BAYVIEW – An estimated 110 motorcycles flowed into Bayview on Saturday. The single-file convoy took seven minutes to reach the Captain’s Wheel restaurant, their destination. Harleys, Gold Wings, bikes of all descriptions, most riding double, raised the population of Bayview by around 160 for a couple of hours. The chefs at the “Wheel” were working at warp speed to feed the sudden influx, and the restaurant had an outdoor bar set up to handle the overflow from the interior. This resort village looked like a snake swallowing a pig, as the town expanded, fed the hungry, then contracted back to its usual bedlam. The emergency medical truck wasn’t there for trouble of the old sort, as these guys and gals were of the peace-loving kind. Instead, an allergic reaction to a bee sting caused a patron to be treated at the same time the bikers showed up. Once they were gone, quiet, or what passes for quiet, descended upon Bayview once again.
