THE SLICE
Who says kids can’t entertain themselves these days?
Spokane’s Patricia Barry knows at least some of them can.
She was in a grocery store when she saw a young girl in the produce section. The kid appeared to be about 10.
This girl had figured out how to pass the time while her mom was elsewhere in the store.
“She was pulling the dry skins off the onions,” said Barry.
You know, the paperlike outer layer that starts disintegrating in the shopping bag and winds up fluttering to the kitchen floor.
“Not really exciting,” said Barry.
Still, the girl seemed content while undertaking her self-appointed task.
So don’t let anyone tell you that there’s nothing to do in Spokane.
