Rosemary Heine

Rosemary Heine recently celebrated her 104th birthday. She was born July 24, 1903 in Belt, Mont., and has lived in Eastern Washington for 89 years.

She met her husband, Edward, when she was taking evening dance classes at Lewis and Clark High School in 1950. They were married that year. He died in 1957.

Heine says her most rewarding life achievements were graduating from North Central High School and Northwestern Business College. She worked as a bookkeeper for Pacific Fruit and Produce Co. and also was employed in a civil service job at the naval shipyards in Bremerton.

She was an accountant at Fairchild Air Force Base before retiring in 1966.

She attributes living a long and healthy life to “taking one step at a time” and taking the time to read the paper every day.

When asked what her memorable moment in the past 100 years has been, she spoke about having her first radio and all of the excitement, entertainment and information it brought to her and her family.

Heine has a nephew, Ron Wilson, and a great-niece, Theresa Marsh, both of Spokane.
