Dog deserves better

The Spokesman-Review

After reading Steve Bergum’s “Tees for Two” stories last Sunday, I was appalled. The positive story about the sisters was great, but I’m concerned about Zena the family pet’s safety. Way to go in turning a cute story into one of animal cruelty and neglect. Common sense tells me that hitting your pet with hard golf balls may cause injury to the animal. No animal deserves to be put continuously in harm’s way. Shame on you for thinking that Zena’s bizarre behavior on the practice range made for entertaining news. In my opinion the family and the writer missed the target on this one. The writer wonders why these loyal canines continue to be man’s best friend. Beats me.
