Mets 4, Dodgers 3: At New York, Orlando Hernandez pitched seven sharp innings and Carlos Delgado snapped a 0-for-19 skid with a two-run single in the fifth, sending the Mets to victory.

Padres 4, Phillies 3: At Philadelphia, Kevin Kouzmanoff hit a go-ahead homer off Brett Myers in the ninth inning and San Diego handed the slumping Phillies their fourth straight loss.

Cardinals 5, Braves 4: At St. Louis, Jim Edmonds and Albert Pujols had two hits and an RBI each and the Cardinals snapped Tim Hudson’s nine-game winning streak. Atlanta fell four games behind San Diego in the N.L. wild-card race.

Reds 11, Marlins 7: At Cincinnati, Ken Griffey Jr. hit career homer No. 591 and drove in four runs against Florida in the Reds’ season-high fifth straight win.

Pirates 4, Astros 1: At Houston, Jose Bautista homered twice and Matt Morris won his first game for the Pirates to lead Pittsburgh to its fourth straight win.

Rockies 5, Nationals 1: At Denver, Ubaldo Jimenez threw a three-hitter over seven innings and Brad Hawpe hit his career-high 23rd home run as Colorado beat Washington.

Giants 6, Brewers 2: At San Francisco, Barry Bonds drove in two runs and the Giants beat Milwaukee. The Giants scored four runs on a walk and five consecutive singles in the first inning.

Diamondbacks 3, Cubs 1: At Phoenix, Conor Jackson hit a two-run homer, Doug Davis won for the sixth time in seven decisions and Arizona beat Chicago to remain two games up in the N.L. West.
