Hints from Heloise
Dear Heloise: Is there any way to eliminate the rancid smell from a lipstick? This is an unused lipstick that I bought a while ago (it’s now discontinued), and I’d really like to salvage it if possible. – Bernadette Erxleben, via e-mail
After doing some research, the consensus is that once lipstick starts to smell bad, it is past its prime and really shouldn’t be used. When lipstick changes color, texture or smell, this is a sign that its shelf life has expired.
You will need to replace the lipstick. Take the old one to the store with you to compare shades. – Heloise
Dear Heloise: I receive hundreds of address stickers every year and hate to see them go to waste. I trim the monogram off, and while watching TV, I use a pen and add my telephone number. I then put them in my wallet and use them on the many raffle tickets I purchase. This saves a lot of time filling the tickets out. – Karen Smith, Garden Valley, Calif.
