Rachalle Grossman of Spokane was awarded third place and a $100 prize with her story “Relating to the Other” in the Travel Scholarship Essay Contest for teenagers on the Web site Family Travel Forum or www.familytravelforum.com.

“Three Washington State University students were awarded scholarships recently.

Jon MacKay received a $1,000 Bi-Mart Corp. Scholarship. He graduated from Liberty High School in 1996 and is the son of Roberta MacKay of Spokane.

Sarah Weber was awarded a $1,000 M.E. and Maxine Johnson Honors Scholarship. She is the daughter of Ken and Teri Weber of Coeur d’Alene and is a graduate of Lake City High School.

Lisa Carey has received a $7,200 Cougar Freshman Academic Award. She is the daughter of John and Deborah Carey of Coeur d’Alene and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 2007.

“Washington State University awarded vice provost of International Programs Lance LeLoup and Political Science professor Edward Meyer the Aaron Wildavsky Lifetime Achievement Award for their research in Public Budgeting by the Association for Budgeting and Financial Management.
