Ryan Selland had 16 points and Chaz Johnson and Jordan Poynor added 12 apiece as Mt. Spokane opened its season with a 51-45 Greater Spokane League win over visiting Gonzaga Prep on Friday night.
Connor Haley added six points, six rebounds and four steals for the Wildcats, who held a 27-21 lead at the half.
Sean Fisher had 14 points to lead the Bullpups (1-1).
Elsewhere in the GSL, Nick Rijon scored a game-high 19 points to lead North Central to a 39-36 win over host East Valley. Rijon hit three 3-pointers, including one with 1 1/2 minutes to go that put the Indians ahead by one. NC (1-1) outscored the Knights 21-13 in the second half after trailing by five at the half. Trevor Slocum and Lonnie Quirk scored 11 points apiece to lead EV (0-1). … Brendan Ingebritsen scored 25 points on 8-of-15 shooting and grabbed six rebounds to lead Mead (1-0) to a 78-64 win over visiting Rogers (0-2).
