Eastern deserved better play

The Spokesman-Review

The Eastern Washington football team continues to build a quality, winning program under the tutelage of coach Paul Wulff and his staff – by pulling off a dominating 44-15 upset of the second-seeded McNeese State Cowboys in their house in the first round of the FCS playoffs – and you choose to highlight the Apple Cup on your front and sports page covers?

Let’s see, what’s more captivating and impressive – an underachieving Cougars team pulling out a 42-35 “thriller” to go to 5-7 overall over an even more disappointing Huskies squad, or an Eastern win that gets them to the Elite Eight of their national playoffs?

Go ahead and continue your undeserved support of the Cougs. Mine will be focused on the region’s winning program out in Cheney.
