‘How-to’ site really shows you how
If you like Web “How-to” sites, you’ve probably found such favorites as wikiHow and Ask.Metafilter.
Check out Sutree as well, a clever how-to site that adds video to every solution offered by users.
Featured how-to videos, as of last week, included how to buy a Christmas tree, how to wrap a gift and how to do a 15-minute abdominal workout.
The site claims it has more than 11,000 videos, some of which belong to multi-session “courses” covering topics like stopping smoking or how to use Microsoft PowerPoint.
Four stars.
Virtenna Radio
The World Wide radio is alive and well. Among a number of sites that try to give a menu of national and international radio streams, we like Virtenna Radio (http://virtenna.com).
The site gives you more than 200 stations to choose from, grouped in eight U.S. cities and five cities overseas – Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, Taipei and London.
It’s not limited to talk radio or public stations, either; it lists commercial radio stations playing jazz, top 40, alternative, hip-hop and gospel. We checked out a Philadelphia “gospel” station and unfortunately, it turned out to be something else (Latin pop).
Still, it’s a very cool assortment of radio choices, all for free.
Error watch
We mistakenly listed the wrong URL for very cool journalism catch-all site Brijit last week. It’s at www.brijit.net. Check it out.
