Allegro pairs first-class music, historic home

It’s a beautiful time of year. The world is frosted with snow and music is everywhere.

This week Allegro Baroque and Beyond will present Christmas at the Historic Witherspoon House in the Rockwood area of Spokane. The concerts will feature music from the late 19th Century in the elegant interior of one of Spokane’s most beautiful historic homes.

When: Wednesday and Thursday. Seatings at 3, 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m. Seating is limited and some concerts may be sold out.

Entertainment

Music for the December performances at the Witherspoon House include:

•A duet for oboe and cello by J. B. Breval, French cellist and composer.

•Two works by the American composer Edward Mack – “The Mistletoe Schottisch” and Variations on “Adestes Fidelis”.

•Franz Liszt – “Christmas Tree Suite.”

•Liza Lehmann – “No Candle Was There” and “No Fire.”

Musicians performing include Ann Fennessy, soprano; Louise Butler, cello; David Dutton, oboe; and Yi-chun Chen, piano.
