Chiefs end Central trip with defeat
LETHBRIDGE, Alberta – The Spokane Chiefs’ successful swing through the Central Division ended on down note Wednesday.
Cam Braes and Zach Boychuk scored early-period goals to lead the Lethbridge Hurricanes (20-9-1-1) to a 2-1 win over the Chiefs in Western Hockey League play at Enmax Centre.
Braes scored 10 seconds into the second period and Boychuk scored 30 seconds into the third period.
Tyler Johnson of the Chiefs scored his sixth goal of the season midway through the third period on a power play. Jared Spurgeon and Drayson Bowman assisted.
Spokane (22-5-1-2) ended its Central trip 3-2. The Chiefs return home at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Arena against Swift Current.
Chiefs center Mitch Wahl, who has a team-leading 30 assists, missed the game while serving a one-game suspension. Wahl received the suspension for a check from behind during Tuesday’s Edmonton game.
