Timberlake Fire District receives grants

Timberlake Fire Protection District, Athol, has received four project grants totaling $264,017 to purchase safety and emergency medical equipment as part of the Department of Homeland Security 2006 Assistance to Firefighters Grant.

With the award the department acquired a new compressor and fill station, 26 sets of turnout gear, air purification systems for the station’s vehicle bay and 30 SCBA air packs.

“Specialized Needs Recreation in Coeur d’Alene has received a $2,500 grant from the Inland Northwest Community Foundation through the Florence Wasmer Fund for Childrenand & Families.

The grant will help fund the SNR Camp All-stars Program, which provides activities for special needs youths ages 4-21 at school, after-school and during the spring, summer and winter vacations.

“Regence BlueShield of Idaho recently awarded $100,000 toward funding of a wellness center in the new Kootenai County Boys and Girls Club planned for construction in the summer of 2008 in Post Falls.

Company CEO Richard Brooke, a leadership trainer and motivational speaker, also has offered to work with youth at the facility, and the company will provide support of free nutritional, personal hygiene and home care products for the facility.
