Around the NFL: Saints’ Bush out Monday
New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush will not play Monday night in Atlanta because of a knee injury.
He had been listed as questionable after an MRI this week indicated a partially torn left knee ligament. The team did not comment Saturday about Bush’s prospects for the rest of the season.
Bush became the Saints’ featured running back when a knee injury ended Deuce McAllister’s season in the third week. Bush has scored six touchdowns with 581 yards rushing and 417 yards receiving.
With Bush out, Jamaal Branch, Aaron Stecker and rookie Pierre Thomas will be the running back. Thomas returned to practice Friday following a kidney bruise.
The Saints (5-7) have a slim chance at an NFC wild-card spot.
Stokley signs 3-year extension
The Denver Broncos signed wide receiver Brandon Stokley to a three-year contract extension.
Stokley, who injured his knee in last week’s loss to Oakland and hadn’t practice until Friday, is expected to play against Kansas City today.
Stokley stepped into the starting lineup this season after Javon Walker suffered a knee injury. He’s caught 39 passes for 614 yards and four touchdowns.
Stokley, a nine-year veteran, ruptured his right Achilles tendon last December, leading to his off-season release from the Indianapolis Colts. He had surgery and rehabbed in Denver after signing with the Broncos on March 22.
Colts’ Harrison out for 8th time
Colts wideout Marvin Harrison will be out for the eighth time in nine games when Indianapolis plays the Ravens today.
Harrison, who did not travel with the team to Baltimore, saw limited practice time Wednesday and had been listed as questionable for the game.
He injured his knee Sept. 30 against Denver.
