EWU names scholarship winners

Eastern Washington University recently announced scholarship recipients for the 2007-08 academic year.

•Four students received a $2,000 Presidential scholarship.

Barocka Rubenthaler, a 2007 West Valley High School graduate, is the daughter of Jackie Rubenthaler, Spokane, and Ross Rubenthaler, Fort Worth, Texas.

Corinne Smith is the daughter of Stuart and Martina Smith and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 2007.

Chester Felch, a graduate of Cheney High School, is the son of Chester Felch of Spokane, and Wendy Morgan of Four Lakes.

Jenny Glendenning of Spokane Valley, is the daughter of James and Lara Glendenning, and a graduate of East Valley High School.

•Five students were awarded a $3,000 Academic Honors scholarship.

Laura Schlect, a 2006 graduate of Valley Christian High School, is the daughter of Lori and Ed Schlect of Spokane.

Diane Way, the daughter of a Louise Way of Post Falls, graduated from Post Falls High School in 2007.

Tabitha Brown, the daughter of Wilma Brown of Spokane, is a 2007 graduate of Rogers High School.

Ellen Perry, a 2007 graduate of Ferris High School, is the daughter of Brent and Theresa Perry of Spokane.

David Parmely of Spokane is a graduate of Oaks Academy and the son of Liza and Lon Parmely of Spokane.

•Two students received $2,500 Scholastic Honors scholarships.

Julian Nardo of Mead is a graduate of Mead High School and the son of Lyle Moholt and Linda Seghetti-Moholt of Spokane.

Katherine Altmaier of Spokane Valley, graduated from East Valley High School and is the daughter of Joel and Sherry Altmaier of Newman Lake.

•Jessica Seigendall of Spokane was awarded a Halstead scholarship for $750. A graduate of University High School, Seigendall is the daughter of Lisa Robinson of Spokane, and Jay Seigendall of Spokane Valley.

•Heather Larkin of Spokane received a $3,000 Friends of Reid Laboratory School scholarship. She is the daughter of Liane Brewer of Spokane, and Don Larkin of Greenacres, and graduated from University High School.

• Petr Gantukh of Spokane was awarded a $2,500 Transfer Academic Honors scholarship. The son of Raisa and Nikolay Gantukh of Spokane, he is a 2005 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School.

•Jessica LaPrade was awarded a $500 Eleanor and Clifton Rock Art scholarship. She is the daughter of Dennis and Charlene LaPrade of Spokane.

•Karmen Morlock of Spokane Valley received a $1,000 Marvin Mutchnick scholarship. She is a 2004 Central Valley High School graduate and the daughter of Carol Hanson Morlock and Richard Morlock of Spokane Valley.

•Theresa Davis of Spokane was awarded a $3,334 Chatburn Family scholarship.

•Katy Baker was awarded a $4,900 David and Sandra Sabey Scholarship. She is the daughter of Scott and Colleen Baker of Spokane and graduated in 2004 from Lewis and Clark High School.

•Brittany Walker was awarded a $2,300 Student Affairs Undergraduate scholarship. She is the daughter of John and Jana Walker of Coeur d’Alene and a 2005 graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School.

•Chris Green of Spokane received a $1,600 King and Jan Cole scholarship. He graduated from East Valley High School and is the son of Susy Green of Spokane Valley and Craig Green of Rockford.

•Kari Mueller was awarded a $1,200 Jeffers Chertok Memorial scholarship. She graduated from Clearfield High School and is the daughter of Cheri Day of Spokane, and Mark Durrwachter of West Point, Utah.

•Gonzaga University recognized four recent graduates with the 2007 Distinguished Alumni Merit Awards for their service and contributions to their families, careers, peers and communities. The following graduates honored were: Edward Gormley, John Holleran, Patricia O’Connell Killen and Justin Horgan.

Calib Burk, John Gibson, and engineering professor Juan Bala Jr. of Gonzaga University were awarded second place in the Student Paper Competition at the 39th annual North American Power Symposium.

•Two Washington State University students were awarded scholarships for the 2007-08 academic year.

Elizabeth Wilke received a $1,000 William J. Shelton scholarship. She is the daughter of Terry and Melinda Wilke of Cheney and is a 2007 Cheney High School graduate.

Jennifer Gudgel received a $2,500 University Achievement award. She graduated from West Valley High School in 2007 and is the daughter of Kenneth and Vickie Gudgel of Spokane.
