Area roundup: Dorr guides Sasquatch men past Riverhawks

Matthew Dorr scored a game-high 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting and the CC Spokane men’s basketball team defeated Umpqua 62-51 at the South Puget Sound Crossover Friday night in Olympia.

The Sasquatch (9-1) outscored the Riverhawks 37-26 in the second half after both teams were tied at 25 at the half.

Tyler Barnes and Jarrad Childs scored 15 points apiece for Umpqua (5-2).

Women’s basketball

Sheena Henderson scored 18 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead Eastern Oregon (7-0) past Whitworth 69-64 in a non-conference women’s basketball game at the Whitworth Fieldhouse.

Tiffanie Ulmer had 18 points and Jenny Fiso added 14 for the Mountaineers, who came back after trailing 43-37 at the half.

Natalie Orell scored a game-high 20 points and Alida Bower added 17 off the bench for the Pirates (4-3), who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end.

“Kelsey Stillar scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead CC Spokane (7-3) to a 63-47 NWAACC win over Clackamas (7-3) at Whatcom Community College in Bellingham.

“Jessica Thompson scored 21 points to lead Boise State (5-3) to an 88-66 non-conference win over Washington (4-6) at Taco Bell Arena in Boise.

Hockey

Shane Horlacher scored two goals to lead the Spokane Braves to a 6-1 KIJHL win in Fernie.
