GU student behavior bad
I offer the following response to those who complained about being unable to see a Gonzaga basketball game: What you don’t see on TV is the obnoxious conduct of the Gonzaga students.
They resoundingly boo the opponents as soon as they come on the floor to warm up. When the starting line up for the guests of the university is announced, the Zags students turn their backs.
Coach Mark Few, no doubt, could put an end to this poor sportsmanship without diminishing his home-court advantage. Frankly, I am surprised the student leaders and administration of a Jesuit university condone such behavior.
For the “common” fan who would like to attend a Gonzaga game, I recommend attending a women’s game. The team plays with passion and the few students who support their female classmates are enthusiastic yet respectful of the opponents. You might even see a Zag knock down nine 3-pointers or score more than 30 points without exhibiting self-promotion.
Another option for fans is to drive to Cheney and attend an EWU game. The Eagles give an all-out effort even when outmanned, and I am sure the players and administration at EWU would greatly appreciate your support, regardless of the amount or your status in the community.
