People: Spears mom’s memoirs delayed

From Wire Reports The Spokesman-Review

Lynne Spears‘ book about parenting has been delayed indefinitely, her publisher said Wednesday – a day after news broke that her 16-year-old daughter is pregnant.

Spears is the mother of troubled pop singer Britney Spears – who has two young sons herself – and “Zoey 101” TV star Jamie Lynn Spears, who just revealed that she’s expecting.

The elder Spears’ “Pop Culture Mom: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World” was initially scheduled for release May 11, which is Mother’s Day.

Christian book publisher Thomas Nelson Inc. declined to comment on whether the delay was related to Jamie Lynn’s pregnancy.

In the new issue of OK! magazine, which reveals Jamie Lynn’s news, Lynne Spears is quoted as saying:

“I didn’t believe it because Jamie Lynn’s always been so conscientious. She’s never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby.”

The father is Casey Aldridge, whom Jamie Lynn began dating in high school.

“It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected,” she said.

Talk about whacked-out

A federal jury Wednesday ruled against a man who says he helped David Chase develop ideas for “The Sopranos.”

The jury said aspiring writer and former prosecutor Robert Baer was not owed anything for help he provided while Chase wrote an early draft of the pilot for the hit HBO drama.

Baer says he arranged meetings with police and prosecutors during Chase’s three-day tour of New Jersey mob sites in 1995.

Tila plays it straight

In case you missed it, Tila Tequila is taking a shot at love with a dude.

The bisexual Internet celebrity selected film student Bobby Banhart as the winner of “A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila” – her popular MTV reality dating show – instead of female firefighter Dani Campbell.

Cleaning up her mess

Denise Martin, who gained fame as the lunch lady on CBS’ reality show “Survivor: China,” is donating $50,000 she received from producer Mark Burnett to a children’s AIDs charity.

Martin told viewers on Sunday night’s live finale that she’d been demoted to janitor at a school in Douglas, Mass., after finishing fourth.

Burnett then surprised Martin with the money to help get her life back together.

But on Tuesday, Martin acknowledged that she’d been promoted to custodian, at her own request, before the competition began.

A truly affirmative action

Denzel Washington is donating $1 million to Wiley College to re-establish its debate team.

Washington stars in “The Great Debaters,” the story of the elite debate squad at the all-black Texas college in the 1930s.

The film, nominated for a Golden Globe award for best drama, opens Christmas Day.
