Women’s basketball: UNC rolls past Lady Toppers

Rashanda McCants had 19 points, rebounding from a bloody fall earlier in the week to lead No. 3 North Carolina to a 93-60 victory over Western Kentucky on Thursday night in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

McCants caught an elbow in the forehead from teammate LaToya Pringle in the Tar Heels’ (12-1) 82-58 win at nearby Coastal Carolina on Monday night. McCants was face first on the court as trainers and doctors cleaned up the blood.

Cyrstal Kelly finished with 18 points to become the Lady Toppers’ (6-5) all-time leading scorer.

(4) Maryland 71, James Madison 65: At Harrisonburg, Va., Laura Harper scored 24 points and the Terrapins (14-1) rallied to beat the Dukes (6-3), ending the longest Division I home winning streak at 30 games.

(9) Oklahoma 121, Central Arkansas 48: At Norman, Okla., Courtney Paris recorded her 71st consecutive double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds and the Sooners (8-2) drubbed the Bears (2-8).

George Washington 66, (10) Texas A&M 65 (OT): At Washington, Sarah-Jo Lawrence scored a career-high 29 points, including a game-tying 3-pointer at the end of regulation, and the Colonials (9-3) upset the Aggies (9-2).
