PARENTAL GUIDANCE
How do you get through the “dog days” after Christmas?
“We feel so lucky to be together.
“We also really enjoy the snow. I’ve only been waiting for it since July. It might be weird, but we even like to shovel. We go sledding, we ski, and we make snow things (like a shark, a monster cat, a T-rex, a crèche, an entire family, a fort, and a maze).
“We go for walks in the snow: to the park, to get hot chocolate, or just to go OUT.
“We might catch a show at the Garland. We’ll visit. We’ll go bowling or to Riverside park. If I can sweet-talk my daughter into it, we might skate. We’ll go to the gym so we can work out and swim. We’ll continue to catch up with long-distance friends and family.
“This is important family playtime. We want to make the most of it. I can feel Jan. 2 breathing down my neck!” – Posted by Laurie Rogers
“Children grow up so fast and then we wonder how it happened. Take advantage of the time you have.
“My son is 11 and we enjoy board games, swimming at the Y, but the game I like the most, he made up.
“We take a piece of paper and write down some questions or other facts, favorite color, song, subject in school, etc. Then the other tries to guess what they are. A very interesting way to find out things I did not know.” – Posted by Shannon Sullivan
“Our kids are at the grandparents for the next few days … YEAH!!!! It’s my best Christmas present so far … I love our kids and miss them, but it’s wonderful they get to spend special time with grammy and grampy while my husband and I get to spend some time on our own.” – Posted by Debbie G.
