NIC president search team named

The North Idaho College Board of Trustees announced the 22 members of the committee that will search for someone to replace NIC President Michael Burke, who leaves at the end of the month. Eleven members of the NIC community and eleven others from Kootenai County will serve.

They are: Co-chairs Wanda Quinn, former chair of the Coeur d’Alene School Board, and Eric Murray, NIC vice president for student services; Ron Katlan, retired sales representative; Dick Compton, former county commissioner and state senator; Linda Davis, Copper-Basin Construction; Kimber Gates, Coeur d’Alene Cellars; Mike Kennedy, Coeur d’Alene City Council; Kim Komberec, Empire Airlines; Claudia Miewald, North Idaho Behavioral Health; Don Meyers, Flexcel; Sandy Patano, state director for U.S. Sen. Larry Craig; Sue Thilo, state Board of Education member; Gary Coffman, NIC counseling services; Jeanne Emerson, NIC English instructor; Sandra Jacquot, NIC senior accountant; Joe Jacoby, NIC theater director; Michelle Liptert, NIC philosophy instructor; Bob Murray, NIC dean of general studies; Judy Parker, NIC dean of professional education; Meredith Satterlee, NIC student government; Steve Ruppel, NIC information technology director; and Al Williams, NIC athletic director.

The college will pay the Association of Community College Trustees about $25,000 to assist with the search. The committee hopes to complete the search by August. An interim president has yet to be announced.
