Diversity adviser speaks

The North Idaho Unitarian Universalist Church will host the Rev. Happy Watkins during its 10:30 a.m. service Sunday at the Harding Family Center at 15th and Wallace in Coeur d’Alene.

Watkins, the pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Spokane, is known for his annual performance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech at local Martin Luther King Day celebrations.

He also is a cultural diversity consultant for the University of Idaho.

Watkins will speak on “Family Home Kitchen Table.”

The public is welcome, and child care will be provided.

Refreshments will be served following the service.

Singing the Gospel

The Whitworth Black Student Union will host a “Gospel Explosion” concert featuring singers and musicians from Whitworth and the Spokane area.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Friday in the Cowles Auditorium on the Whitworth campus, 302 W. Hawthorne Road.

Admission is free.
