Man says 2 women attacked, robbed him

A 67-year-old Spokane man who took a 12-year-old girl as his live-in sex partner several years ago recently told police he was assaulted and robbed after refusing two young women’s sexual overtures.

Court documents filed Friday indicate police are seeking cellular telephone records to investigate allegations that a woman who called herself Jessica or “J” attacked Donald Earl Evans in his home at 6117 N. Cambridge Drive.

A search warrant affidavit says Evans told officers that “J,” whom he recognized as a friend of his roommate, Ralph Davis, and another, unidentified woman offered him sex for money on Dec. 20. Evans said he refused, and “J” kicked him in the back as he walked downstairs to escort the girls out.

Evans told police he struck his head in the fall and then was hit and kicked. He said a young man entered the home and joined the assault and robbery. He said he was blindfolded and bound with duct tape while his attackers stole electronics and other items.

The search warrant affidavit says Davis, who wasn’t at home during the alleged burglary, later told police he had met “Jessica” and another woman several days earlier when they came to his home and exchanged phone numbers with him.

Evans pleaded guilty in February 2005 to third-degree child rape and three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Superior Court Judge Robert Austin sentenced him to six months in jail and three years of treatment under a special program for first-time sex offenders.

Austin also imposed a 10-year suspended sentence that Evans must serve if he fails sex-offender treatment.

Evans was arrested in July 2004 when police found out he had been living with a girl for three years, since she was 12. He was caught when the girl, then 15, propositioned a detective trolling an Internet chat room for pedophiles.

The detective was posing as a 13-year-old girl when the 15-year-old girl living with Evans, posing as a 19-year-old, suggested they get together for sex. She e-mailed a nude photo of herself that Evans had taken, and said he encouraged her to have sex with other girls.

Detective Jerry Keller recognized the girl in the photo as someone who had complained about Evans three years earlier. At that time, an investigation failed to produce enough evidence to charge Evans.

When the girl rendezvoused with Keller, she brought a digital camera with sexually explicit photos and a movie of Evans having sex with her.
