The Detroit Red Wings won the special teams battle and the game on Friday night in Detroit.

Kris Draper’s short-handed goal with 6:29 left broke a tie, and Tomas Holmstrom had two goals and an assist to lift Detroit to a 5-3 win over the St. Louis Blues.

Henrik Zetterberg added a goal and three assists, and Dan Cleary got the other goal for Detroit, which won its 10th straight at home. Nicklas Lidstrom had three assists, and Dominik Hasek stopped 24 shots.

Lee Stempniak, Ryan Johnson, and Keith Tkachuk scored for St. Louis. Manny Legace made 24 saves.

“Special teams was the difference,” Tkachuk said. “Our power play didn’t get it done at the end of the game. … That was a winnable game for us.”

The Blues were 0 for 6 on the power play and are 0 for 31 with the extra man in the five games against the Red Wings this season.

Flames 6, Blue Jackets 2: At Calgary, Alberta, captain Jarome Iginla scored once and had two assists in his return to the lineup and the Flames routed Columbus.

Kristian Huselius and defenseman Robyn Regehr also had a goal and two assists for the Flames.

The goal was Regehr’s first in 62 games.
