Top 25 Women: Huskers edge out Bears
Kelsey Griffin scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead No. 22 Nebraska past No. 13 Baylor 76-67 Saturday in Lincoln, Neb.
Nebraska (19-4, 7-2 Big 12) opened the game with a 16-2 run and never trailed.
Baylor (19-4, 6-3) cut the Huskers’ lead to 32-31 with 3:03 remaining in the first half. But that was as close as the Bears could get. Baylor, shooting 45 percent this season, was held to 32 percent shooting.
(6) Connecticut 52, (16) Marquette 48: At Milwaukee, freshman Tina Charles tied a career high with 20 points and the Huskies (20-2, 10-0 Big East) beat the Golden Eagles (19-4, 7-3).
(11) George Washington 72, Richmond 53: At Richmond, Va., Sarah-Jo Lawrence had 15 points while grabbing 11 rebounds as the Colonials (19-2, 10-0 Atlantic 10) defeated the Spiders (10-13, 4-4).
(18) Texas A&M 64, Kansas 53: At College Station, Texas, Patrice Reado scored 18 points as the Aggies (17-4, 7-2) defeated the Jayhawks (6-16, 0-9).
Reado, who came in averaging 7.5 points per game, was 8 of 10 from the floor with eight rebounds.
(19) Louisville 86, DePaul 68: At Louisville, Ky., Angel McCoughtry scored 29 points on 11-of-20 shooting, to lead four players in double figures as the Cardinals (21-2, 7-2 Big East) cruised to a win over the Blue Demons (14-9, 4-6).
(20) Middle Tennessee 86, South Alabama 58: At Murfreesboro, Tenn., Amber Holt scored 27 points, and the Blue Raiders (21-3, 13-0 Sun Belt Conference) extended their school record to 18 straight victories by beating the Jaguars (11-12, 5-8).
(23) Rutgers 85, Cincinnati 43: At Piscataway, N.J., Essence Carson scored 18 points to lead five players in double figures and help the Scarlet Knights (14-6, 7-2 Big East) rout the Bearcats (12-10, 3-7).
(24) Wisconsin-Green Bay 88, Detroit 60: At Green Bay, Wis., Amanda Popp had 16 points and eight rebounds as the Phoenix (18-3, 9-0 Horizon League) defeated the Titans (4-19, 1-9).
Popp was one of six players in double figures for the Phoenix.
