Broncos stop Idaho

BOISE – Reggie Larry scored 19 points and grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds Wednesday night as Boise State defeated Idaho 86-63 in a Western Athletic Conference game.

Matt Nelson added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Broncos (12-10, 6-5 Western Athletic Conference), who beat Idaho for the 12th consecutive time dating back to 2001.

David Jackson scored 15 points for the overmatched Vandals (3-20, 1-10), who had the size but not the athleticism to match up with Boise State. Idaho lost its sixth in a row, and has lost 10 of its last 11.

The Vandals appeared intent on making a game of it early and led for much of the first half, taking a 19-14 lead on Keoni Watson’s 3-pointer with 10 minutes, 5 seconds left.

Watson finished with 12 points.

But then Boise State rallied, and Seth Robinson weaved through the lane with some nifty fakes that ended with a left-handed layup with 8:01 left in the half to give the Broncos a 21-19 lead.

After Idaho’s O.J. Avworo made 1 of 2 free throws, Kenny Wilson responded with a dunk for the Broncos and Boise State outscored the Vandals 21-5 for a 42-25 halftime lead.

Boise State opened the second half with a 14-0 run to quickly squash any comeback hopes Idaho might have had.

Boise State made 45 percent of its shots compared to Idaho’s 38 percent.
