‘Diviners’ begins six-day run

The North Idaho College Theater Department’s winter production of “The Diviners” will open Thursday in Boswell Hall Schuler Auditorium.

“The Diviners” is a drama by Jim Leonard Jr., set in the 1930s rural Midwest. The play is a depiction of the friendship between a traveling preacher who has lost his faith and a developmentally delayed young man still grieving the death of his mother.

“The story is a captivating human drama as well as an examination of spirituality and theology,” said director Rebecca McNeill, an alum of NIC and the Cornish School of the Arts. “The entire cast and crew have been touched so deeply by this script. We can’t wait to share it with an audience.”

The cast includes community members Charles Gift, Luke StomoGipson, Todd Jasmin and Jillian Ashkinos as well as NIC students Arron Craft and Jared Alme, both of Post Falls.

Curtain time will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday, next Saturday and Feb. 22, 23 and 24 in NIC’s Boswell Hall Schuler Auditorium.

Due to mild language and scenes that may be emotionally difficult for young audiences, children under 12 will not be admitted.

Admission is free. All seating is on the auditorium stage, so seating is very limited. Reservations will not be accepted, so arrive early. Doors open at 7 p.m. For more information, call 769-3220.
