Freshman Heather Bowman recorded her second consecutive double-double, scoring 28 points and grabbing 15 rebounds to lead Gonzaga past Santa Clara 79-68 Saturday in West Coast Conference basketball play at Santa Clara, Calif.
Stephanie Hawk chipped in 22 points and nine rebounds for the Bulldogs (18-9, 10-1), who also received a career-high 14 points from Rachel Kane.
Gonzaga outrebounded the Broncos (13-12, 5-5) 43-28.
•Brittany Phillips scored a team-high 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field as Utah State slipped past Idaho 57-53 in Western Athletic Conference play at the Cowan Spectrum in Moscow.
Katie Madison recorded a double-double with 28 points and 10 rebounds for the Vandals (5-18, 2-10), who jumped out to a 12-4 lead.
Jamelah Brown chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds for the Aggies (9-13, 5-5).
•Devanei Hampton scored 26 and Ashley Walker added 25 points as No. 20 California rolled past Washington State 72-45 in Pac-10 play at Berkeley, Calif.
Colleen Betteridge’s 11 points led the Cougars (5-20, 1-14), who shot 28 percent from the floor and lost their 14th straight.
The Bears (19-6, 9-6) held a 48-37 rebounding margin and made 34 free throws to Washington State’s 14.
•Two-time reigning Pac-10 Player of the Year Candice Wiggins scored 23 points to lead No. 11 Stanford past Washington 80-54 in Stanford, Calif.
Brooke Smith added 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Cardinal (21-4, 13-1), who beat the Huskies for the third straight time and 10th time in 12 meetings.
Emily Florence scored 11 points for the Huskies (15-11, 8-7), who have lost seven of 10 after starting the Pac-10 season 5-0.
•Kyle Haag scored 20 first-half points on 6-of-6 3-point shooting en route to a game-high 23, leading Pacific Lutheran to a 72-57 rout of Whitworth in Northwest Conference play at Tacoma.
Nikki Johnson added 18 points for the Lutes (12-9, 7-6). Natalie Orrell paced the Pirates (13-9, 7-6) with 15 points.
•Sarah Scates and Ashlee Michelson scored 13 points apiece, as Community Colleges of Spokane edged Treasure Valley 51-50 in NWAACC action at Spokane CC.
Ali Mittlestadt chipped in with 10 points for the Sasquatch (17-7, 7-4), who trailed 30-24 at the half. Ashlie Macfarlane tossed in a game-high 16 points for the Chukars (8-18, 3-8).
