They’re just ‘Idol’ rumors
Paula Abdul‘s spacey behavior on “American Idol” has prompted many to ponder if there’s a shot or two of booze in that red cup on the table in front of her on the Fox talent contest.
Nonsense, the 44-year-old “Idol” judge tells Us Weekly magazine.
“I’ve never been drunk. I have never done recreational drugs,” she says.
“Just look at my 20-year career. Tell me someone who is into partying or doing drugs that could have done that.”
In her five years on “Idol,” the singer/choreographer has weathered criticism about her sometimes odd behavior – including slurred and garbled speech – and not-so-subtle gushing over the show’s young, male singers.
“There have been 100 million lies about me,” says Abdul, who has said she’s taken prescription medication for health problems, including inflammatory arthritis.
“I’m squeaky clean. … (But) being involved in the show causes people to question everything.”
And speaking of spacey …
Anna Nicole Smith‘s last movie is going direct to DVD and is scheduled to arrive in stores in May.
Smith helped bankroll the campy comedy “Illegal Aliens,” in which she plays one of a trio of space aliens who are fighting an intergalactic terrorist – ” ‘Charlie’s Angels’ goes sci-fi,” as distributor MTI Home Video puts it.
Says executive producer John James: “Now with the passing of its star, you’ll find it to be replete with metaphors of her life.”
Live and let live
Heather Mills McCartney visited a British police station Wednesday to discuss “unspecified issues.”
The 38-year-old former model reportedly has received death threats since her split last year from ex-Beatle Paul McCartney.
A police spokeswoman called it a “preplanned meeting for her to discuss a number of issues,” adding that it “did not relate to anything specific and she was not arrested.”
Rock and a hard place
Former “Saturday Night Live” player Tracy Morgan pleaded guilty Wednesday to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge.
Morgan, 38, who co-stars on the NBC sitcom “30 Rock,” was ordered to enter a doctor-supervised alcohol program, perform community service and avoid being arrested again within the next six months.
The judge also fined him $1,000 and suspended his driver’s license for six months.
A little sweet-toothiness
The new Ben & Jerry’s flavor: “Stephen Colbert‘s Americone Dream,” after Comedy Central’s faux-conservative commentator.
The vanilla ice cream with fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and caramel is billed as “the sweet taste of liberty in your mouth.”
Says Colbert: “What I hope to do with this ice cream is bring some balance back to the freezer case.”
