Jazz Mass
St. Mark’s Lutheran Church will host a special Fat Tuesday Jazz Mass at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Fat Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent, the 40 days before Easter.
The special service will feature a jazz liturgy composed by Dan Kerbele, director of the Spokane Jazz Orchestra. Musicians will include members of the Spokane Jazz Orchestra, pianist Carol Miyamoto, soloist Angela Hunt and the St. Mark’s Choir.
The guest speaker will be Bill Robinson, president of Whitworth College. A dessert reception will follow the service.
The offering will be donated to charities in New Orleans.
The public is welcome to attend. The church is at 24th Avenue and Grand Boulevard.

Sacred music
The Gonzaga University Choir will perform a variety of sacred music during a concert at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 5720 S. Perry St. The local quartet Windsong will also perform.
The afternoon concert will be followed by a tea served by the church members.
Admission is free, and the public is welcome.

Veggie Tales pre-release
Parents with young kids eager for the next VeggieTales video can take advantage of a special pre-release showing of “Moe and the Big Exit.”
The showing will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Zion Christian Center, 545 E. Wellesley Ave. Admission is free.
The movie will be released officially on March 6.
Spiritual Cinema
Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard St., will present Spiritual Cinema on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The movies will include “The Whisperer,” about a healer in a rural Ukraine village; “Di Algo (Say Something),” about a blind woman who connects with the voice of the reader of books on tape; and “Audrey and Einstein,” about a solitary woman who forms a bond with her neighbor’s goldfish.
Donations will be accepted.
