Meet your Neighbor

Carl Gidlund Correspondent

Name: Tim Patrick

Age: 51

Hometown: Mason City, Iowa. We moved from there to Post Falls in 2002. We’ve also lived in Des Moines and Ames, Iowa.

Occupation: I’m a lumber trader for the Silvaris Corp.

Family: My wife, Elsie, and I have two cats, Greta and Ashley.

Hobbies: Golf and wine. We have more than 300 bottles in our cellar, most from Idaho, Oregon and Washington, and some from Canada.

What do you like about North Idaho? We like everything about this area. That includes the four seasons, the terrific golf and the fact that it’s a lot more temperate than where we came from.

What do you like or dislike about the current season? Unfortunately, I have bad knees and therefore I can’t ski, so I lose out on some aspects of winter. I don’t care for ice, and I really wish we didn’t have so many gray skies.

Favorite music: Blues, and old crooners like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.

Favorite TV show: “House” and “24”

Favorite magazine: Wine Press Northwest

Favorite spot in North Idaho? Why? I can’t recall the number of the hole, but there’s an elevated green on the Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course that’s absolutely gorgeous. It’s shaped like a cloverleaf, with huge boulders at the bottom, and it overlooks the lake. It just takes your breath away.
