NIC offering hundreds of noncredit classes

North Idaho College is offering hundreds of noncredit courses through its community education courses. Fifty new classes are included in the catalog mailed recently to area residentsThere is still time to enroll, but the enrollment deadline is different for every class, and some already have started. The majority of the classes are held at the Workforce Training Center in Post Falls, but a few are offered at satellite campus locations for people in outlying areas. Career development

Interested in becoming a Web master, private investigator, automotive service technician or a six sigma black belt in about six months? Be sure to check out the 56 online career development programs offered. For detailed course outlines and demos, visit www.gatlineducation.com.

In the technical skills field, NIC offers electrical, plumbing, sheet metal, and HVAC apprenticeship-related instruction. And, for those hardy souls out there, a work-zone flagging and traffic control class probably gives lots of good advice, including instruction on how to avoid those cars speeding through work zones.

Business enterprise

Business class offerings include dozens of classes in business basics, finance, management, and marketing and operations. Specialized training is offered through a supervisor, customer service and leadership series of courses and several basic classes are offered for entrepreneurs or those starting a small business. The computer classes offer instruction in every aspect of computer use, from fundamental skills to computerized accounting.

Personal enrichment

Choose from more the 110 classes, including calligraphy, understanding hearing loss, investing, boating, horseback riding, Web site building, genealogy, pets and self-awareness. Interested in the art of bonsai, ballroom dancing, drawing cartoons, triathlon training or landscaping with native plants? There is a class for you.

Other class topics include art, creative writing, creativity, music, cooking, healthy living, home enhancement, language skills, money management, recreation and special interests. There also are classes offered in fabric art, poetry and fly-fishing for beginners.

Short-term online

Short-term online classes offer the chance to experience the latest educational technology using interactive lessons in more than 250 subjects from your home computer.
