Louise Huber

Spokane

Louise Huber celebrated her 100th birthday on Jan. 29 at the Royal Plaza Retirement Center. She was born Jan. 29, 1907, in Odessa, Ukraine, and has been a resident of Eastern Washington since 1958.

Huber met her husband, Philip, in Ukraine. They were married in 1928.

She says being a wife, mother and grandmother has been her most rewarding life achievement.

Huber attributes her longevity to her religious faith and the happiness it has given her, along with playing the organ and singing in the church choir.

Looking back, Huber said leaving her farm with her husband to move to Spokane to be near family and friends is the most memorable moment in her life.

Huber has three children, Meraleen Kern, Edmonton, Alberta; Ruth Baxter, Mansfield, Ohio; and Reuben Huber, Henderson, Nev.; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
