Eagles handle Goats in OT
Senior Travis Corigliano scored 29 points and grabbed 18 rebounds, leading second-seeded Lakeside (16-8) to an 86-74 overtime win Tuesday over third-seeded Chelan in a 1A Eastern Region playoff game in Nine Mile Falls.
The host Eagles trailed by 15 at halftime but outscored the Goats 45-30 in the second half to send the game into overtime. Nick Phillips added 22 points and 10 boards for Lakeside, which scored 15 points in the overtime period.
In other tournament action, top-seeded Brewster beat fifth-seeded Cascade (Leavenworth) 79-39 in Brewster. The top-ranked Bears advance to play Lakeside at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Wenatchee High School for a berth in the state tournament. Cascade will meet Chelan in a loser-out game at 5:30 p.m. Friday. … Elsewhere, Marc Soelberg scored a team-high 15 points and Christian Casto added 13 points and 12 rebounds as Freeman (18-5) cruised past visiting Cashmere 63-49. Andrew Dresback added 11 points for the Scotties, who outrebounded the Bulldogs 42-29. Michael Miller tallied a game-high 25 points for Cashmere. …Tonasket topped visiting Colfax 49-33. The Tigers advance to play Freeman at 7 p.m. Friday at Wenatchee High School for a berth in the state tournament. The Bulldogs (17-7) will play Cashmere Friday at 4 p.m. in a loser-out game.
•Sean Bernier scored a game-high 21 points, 15 in the second half, as No. 3 Clarkston stormed back to beat No. 6 Cheney 69-61 in a District 7 2A playoff game in Clarkston. Cary Conklin added 12 points for the Bantams (10-11), who outscored the Blackhawks (9-12) 49-32 in the second half to erase a nine-point halftime deficit. Clarkston will play No. 2 Pullman (11-9) at 7 p.m. Thursday. Brandon Hardie tallied a team-high 17 points for Cheney, which is finished for the season.
•Ryan Selland scored 18 points and Alex Vessey tossed in 12 of his season-high 14 points in the decisive second quarter as Mt. Spokane topped visiting North Central 66-56 in the final Greater Spokane League game for both teams. Jordon Poynor added 11 points for the Wildcats (9-11), who outscored the Indians 23-9 in the second quarter and led by 12 at halftime. Nick Rijon tallied a game-high 20 points for North Central (4-16), who will play at East Valley (6-15) at 7 p.m. Thursday in a District 8 3A loser-out game. The winner of that game will play at Mt. Spokane on Friday to decide the top two seeds to the regional playoffs, which start Tuesday.
•Shane Moser scored a game-high 19 points and dished out five assists as Lewiston topped Lake City 55-40 in a 5A Region 1 playoff game in Lewiston. Lake City (14-9) was led by Ty Stoddard, who tallied a team-high 18 points. Lewiston (16-5) advances to a play-in game Saturday at Grangeville High School against the District III fifth-place team. Lake City’s season has concluded.
•Shane Miller scored a game-high 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting and added seven rebounds and five assists as Moscow routed Sandpoint (9-14) 72-43 in the 4A Region 1 championship game in Moscow. The Bears (15-7) advance to the state tournament, which begins March 1 at Albertson College in Caldwell. The Bulldogs’ season has concluded.
•Cody Kraack scored a game-high 10 points, leading Kootenai to a 40-21 win over Mullan in a 1A District 1 playoff game at Lakeland High School in Rathdrum. Justin Thomas and Jeff Ness added six points apiece for the Warriors (11-6), who outscored the Tigers 10-1 in the first quarter. Kootenai advances to play second-seeded Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy (17-3) at 7:30 tonight in Rathdrum. Mullan (1-20) is finished for the season. … In other action at Lakeland, Marcus Matile scored a game-high 17 points, including five 3-pointers, as Wallace topped Lakeside 57-47. Jordan Beehner and Nick Arthun tossed in 14 points apiece for the Miners (11-10), who outscored the Knights by 10 in the first half. Wallace advances to play top-seeded Clark Fork (13-6) at 6 p.m. today in Rathdrum. Lakeside (8-12) is finished.

Meagan Teade scored 14 points and Kylie Shaw added 11 as Colfax routed visiting Cashmere 65-27 in 1A Eastern Regional play. Jordan Harazin added nine points, five steals and five assists for Colfax (21-2), who outscored Cashmere 18-4 in the opening quarter. … In other tournament action, Kyla Evans scored a game-high 29 points, leading Brewster to a 60-48 win over visiting Freeman. Carley Heinen tallied a team-high 15 points for the Scotties (17-7), who will play Cashmere in a loser-out game at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Eastmont High School. Nikki Nelson tallied 13 points to lead the Cougars (15-10), who will play Tonasket at 5 p.m. Friday in a loser-out game at Eastmont High. The Goats will play Lakeside at 8 p.m. Friday for a berth to state.

Alicia Kahler led the Indians with 16 points. These same teams will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Spokane to begin the District 8 3A playoffs. The winner of that game will play at East Valley on Friday to decide the top two seeds to the regional playoffs, which begin Tuesday.
