Krystal McCarthy scored a game-high 25 points to lead West Valley past Medical Lake 58-53 in Wednesday’s District 7 2A girls basketball loser-out contest at West Valley.

Melissa Mauro chipped in nine points, nine rebounds and four steals for the Eagles (10-11), who led 28-19 at the half.

Richelle Daily recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Cardinals (9-12), who saw their season come to an end.

West Valley takes on host Pullman (20-0) in a district semifinal game at 7 p.m. Friday.

Elsewhere in the district tournament, Amanda Swenson and Kyle Miller scored nine points apiece to lead Cheney past Riverside (8-12) 37-30 in a loser-out battle at Cheney. … The Blackhawks (13-8) play at Clarkston (15-5) in a district semifinal contest at 7 p.m. Friday.
