No. 2 Ohio State tames Nittany Lions

Jamar Butler scored 18 points and Greg Oden had 17 points and 14 rebounds to help No. 2 Ohio State beat Penn State for the second time in eight days, 68-60 Wednesday night in Columbus, Ohio.

Daequan Cook added 12 points and Ron Lewis 11 for the Buckeyes (25-3, 13-1), who hold a one-game edge with two games left in the Big Ten race.

Ohio State has won 12 in a row overall, 24 in a row at home and 11 in a row in the Big Ten.

Geary Claxton had 15 points for the Nittany Lions (10-16, 1-12).

(3) Florida 63, South Carolina 49: At Gainesville, Fla., Al Horford scored 20 points and the Gators (25-3, 12-1 Southeastern Conference) rebounded with a victory against the Gamecocks (13-13, 3-10).

(5) North Carolina 83, North Carolina State 64: Brandan Wright scored 24 points and the Tar Heels (24-4, 10-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) pulled away for a victory over the Wolfpack (14-12, 4-9).

(8) Texas A&M 66, Oklahoma State 46: At Stillwater, Okla., Acie Law IV scored 19 points and freshman Donald Sloan added 15 as the Aggies (23-4, 11-2 Big 12) thumped the Cowboys (19-8, 5-7)

(12) Georgetown 75, Cincinnati 65: At Cincinnati, Jeff Green scored 21 points, helping the Hoyas (21-5, 11-2 Big East) extend their winning streak with a victory over the Bearcats (10-17, 1-2).

(13) Southern Illinois 58, Indiana State 50: At Terre Haute, Ind., Tony Young scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half to help the Salukis (24-5, 14-3) beat the Sycamores (12-16, 5-12) and win the Missouri Valley Conference regular-season title outright.

Mississippi State 83, (17) Vanderbilt 70: At Starkville, Miss., Jamont Gordon recorded his first career triple-double with 15 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists as the Bulldogs (16-10, 7-6 Southeastern Conference) defeated the Commodores (18-9, 8-5).

(20) Louisville 72, St. John’s 48: At Louisville, Ky., Terrence Williams scored 16 points as the Cardinals (20-8, 10-4 Big East) rolled to a win over the Red Storm (15-13, 6-9).

(21) BYU 76, Colorado State 67: At Provo, Utah, Keena Young scored 24 points and the Cougars (21-6, 11-2 Mountain West Conference) beat the Rams (15-11, 5-9).

Miami (FL) 68, (24) Virginia 60: At Coral Gables, Fla., Jack McClinton scored 14 points to help the Hurricanes (11-16, 4-9 Atlantic Coast Conference) defeat the Cavaliers (18-8, 9-4).

Tennessee 69, (25) Alabama 66 (OT): At Knoxville, Tenn., Chris Lofton scored 20 points and the Volunteers (19-9, 7-6 Southeastern Conference) beat the Crimson Tide (19-8, 6-7).

Women

(13) Oklahoma 76, Kansas 70: At Lawrence, Kan., Courtney Paris had 32 points and 13 rebounds and the Sooners (21-4, 11-3 Big 12) pulled away late to beat the Jayhawks (9-18, 3-11).

(14) Baylor 75, Colorado 67: At Boulder, Colo., Angela Tisdale scored 19 points as the Lady Bears (24-4, 11-3 Big 12) defeated the Buffaloes (11-15, 5-9).

(16) Texas A&M 67, Texas Tech 51: At College Station, Texas, Morenike Atunrase had 18 points to lift the Aggies (21-5, 11-3 Big 12) to a victory over the Lady Raiders (15-13, 6-8).
