North Central qualifies for regional tournament

Senior Cody Haeunstein scored nine of his 15 points in the first quarter to kick-start North Central (5-16) in a 64-47 win over host East Valley (6-16) in a District 8 3A loser-out game.

Adam Markham scored 19 to lead EV, and Nick Rijon finished with 16 for NC, which will visit Mt. Spokane at 7 tonight to determine the first and second seeds to regionals.

Drew Hansen scored 22 as Clarkston (10-11) topped visiting Pullman 87-76 in triple overtime to advance to the District 7 2A championship game Wednesday at against West Valley. JT Levenseller scored 22 to lead the Greyhounds (11-9), who will face Medical Lake in a loser-out game Wednesday. … Jordan Lupfer-Graham scored 14 as West Valley (18-3) topped visiting Medical Lake 57-42. David Ramacus led all scorers with 17 for the Cardinals (10-12).

Girls basketball

Sam Patrick scored eight of her 18 points in the decisive third quarter as Mt. Spokane came from behind to defeat visiting North Central in a District 8 3A loser-out game. Alicia Kahler scored 11 to lead NC (0-21). Averi Hallman added 11 points for Mt. Spokane (6-15), which will visit East Valley at 5 p.m. today to determine the first and second seed to regionals.
