Bengals advance to State 5A

Shane Moser scored a game-high 26 points and Shad Strerath added 15 as Lewiston earned a spot in the State 5A tournament with a 67-53 win over Eagle in a play-in game Saturday afternoon in Grangeville.

Andrew Packwood added 10 points for the Bengals (17-5), who jumped ahead early, outscoring the Mustangs 19-8 in the first quarter.

Max Fenwick tallied a team-high 14 points for Eagle.

The tournament begins Thursday at the Idaho Center in Nampa.

•Michael Overgaard scored a game-high 24 points on 7-10 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds as Weiser beat Priest River 57-38 in a 3A play-in game at Grangeville. Micah Smith tallied 10 points for the Spartans (13-12). Weiser advances to the state tournament, which begins Thursday at Meridian High School in Meridian. Priest River is finished for the season.
