McDonald’s team for Bjorklund

University High School star Angie Bjorklund has been selected to play in the McDonald’s All American High School Basketball Girls Game. As a member of the West squad, she will join 23 other top girls basketball players in the game to be played as part of a doubleheader with the boys game.

The games will be played March 28 from Freedom Hall in Louisville, Ky., and broadcast by ESPN.

Bjorklund, who will play at the University of Tennessee in the fall, is the only Greater Spokane League player, female or male, to score more than 2,000 points in a career.

Beckham’s deal not so posh

A person who had been briefed on David Beckham’s deal with the Los Angeles Galaxy says the contract is worth about $27.5 million in base salary over five seasons. It’s a fraction of the $250 million income figure floated for the English star when he agreed to the deal last month.
