Boys outlook

In the 2B division, Republic (10-1, 4-0) is undefeated in league. The Tigers’ only loss was Dec. 5, 76-53 at Brewster. Republic senior Derek Gianukakis is leading the league in scoring, averaging 28.7 points in 11 games while teammate Cody Groth is contributing an average of 18.5 points. St. George’s (6-4, 3-1) is on a four-game winning streak while Selkirk (7-3, 1-3) has won its last two. Wellpinit (5-4, 2-2) is struggling with consistency while Springdale (1-7, 1-4) is searching for a second win.

In the 1B division, league-leading Curlew (6-3, 4-0) has lost two straight and second-place Inchelium (4-3, 4-1) was on a four-game winning streak until losing 68-37 to Curlew on Dec. 16. Cusick (5-4, 3-2) and St. Michael’s (5-5, 3-3) are in the middle of the pack. Ben Czapla of St. Michael’s is putting up 23.3 points a game. Northport (2-7, 1-4) has lost six straight while Columbia (0-8, 0-5) is still winless.

Girls outlook

In the 2B division, St. George’s (4-5, 3-1) is off to a good start. Springdale (5-3, 2-2), Republic (5-5, 2-2) and Wellpinit (3-6, 2-2) are all tied for second place while Selkirk (2-8, 1-3) has only a pair of wins. Wellpinit’s Samantha Flett is averaging 26.4 points a game.

In the 1B division, last year’s State B runner-up, Curlew (8-1, 4-0), is the only undefeated team in the league. The Cougars have one loss, a 62-37 thumping from Inchelium (6-1, 4-1) in a Dec. 2 non-leaguer. But Curlew got revenge with a 64-50 defeat of the Hornets on Dec. 16. The teams meet one more time in the regular season. Columbia (2-6, 1-2), St. Michael’s (5-4, 1-3), Cusick (5-5, 1-3) and Northport (2-6, 1-3) have one league win each. Northport senior Kaprina Goodwin leads the league in scoring, averaging 26.8 points a game, while Curlew senior Nichole Miller is posting 20.6.
