Top 25: Badgers survive late surge to beat Buckeyes
Kammron Taylor scored 25 points and third-ranked Wisconsin survived a late charge by Greg Oden and No. 5 Ohio State to hold on for a 72-69 victory Tuesday night in Madison, Wis.
The Badgers (16-1, 2-0 Big Ten) used a 14-0 run midway through the second half to apparently take control in an early-season matchup of conference favorites.
Ivan Harris led Ohio State (13-3, 2-1) with 17 points.
(2) Florida 79, Arkansas 72: At Gainesville, Fla., Taurean Green scored 17 points and Corey Brewer added 13 to lead the Gators (15-2, 2-0 Southeastern) past the Razorbacks (12-4, 1-1).
At halftime, the sellout crowd at the O’Connell Center welcomed the Gators football team, which beat Ohio State 41-14 Monday night in the BCS championship game. That made Florida the first school to hold the national championships in Division I football and basketball at the same time.
(8) Texas A&M 61, Baylor 51: At Waco, Texas, Joseph Jones had six points and three rebounds in the stretch that finally put Texas A&M ahead to stay, and Acie Law IV drove for consecutive layups late to push the Aggies (14-2, 2-0 Big 12) to their seventh straight victory, a win over the Bears (10-5, 0-2).
(14) Alabama 71, (13) LSU 61: At Tuscaloosa, Ala., Richard Hendrix scored 18 points and the Crimson Tide (14-2, 1-1 Southeastern) took advantage of cold shooting by the Tigers and beat LSU (11-4, 0-1).
(17) Clemson 87, North Carolina St. 76: At Raleigh, N.C., Vernon Hamilton scored 21 points and the Tigers (17-0, 3-0 Atlantic Coast) beat the Wolfpack (10-6, 0-3) to match the best start in school history and remain the only unbeaten team in Division I.
(18) Air Force 65, New Mexico 57: At Air Force Academy, Colo., Dan Nwaelele scored 22 points and the Falcons (16-1, 3-0 Mountain West) rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit for its 12th straight victory, a win over the Lobos (11-7, 0-3).
(22) Notre Dame 61, (21) West Virginia 58: At South Bend, Ind., Russell Carter scored 19 points and kept West Virginia’s Frank Young from getting off a shot at the buzzer as the Irish (14-2, 2-1 Big East) beat the Mountaineers (13-2, 3-1). Colin Falls scored 14 points for the Irish, who shot 53.5 percent for the game.

(7) Connecticut 106, Seton Hall 58: At Storrs, Conn., Mel Thomas scored 23 points, freshman Tina Charles added a career-high 20 and the Huskies (13-1, 3-0 Big East) routed the Pirates (9-6, 1-3).
(12) George Washington 57, Richmond 50: At Washington, Jazmine Adair had 11 points and 10 rebounds, her first double-double this season, and the Colonials (12-2) beat the Spiders (6-10) in both teams’ Atlantic 10 opener.
Pittsburgh 91, (16) Marquette 87 (OT): At Pittsburgh, Shavonte Zellous had 27 points and 10 rebounds to help the Panthers (13-2, 1-1 Big East) defeat the Golden Eagles (15-2, 2-1).
(17) Louisville 57, Georgetown 54: At Washington, Angel McCoughtry had 24 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Cardinals (17-1, 3-1 Big East) over the Hoyas (11-6, 1-3).
(21) Middle Tennessee 85, Fla. International 52: At Miami, Chrissy Givens scored a season-high 32 points to lead the Lady Raiders (13-3, 5-0 Sun Belt Conference) past the Golden Panthers (9-6, 3-2).
West Virginia 74, (24) DePaul 63: At Chicago, LaQuita Owens scored 22 of her career-high 26 points in the second half and the Mountaineers (9-7, 1-3 Big East) beat the Blue Demons (11-5, 1-2).
