Be wary of a hungry Paris

From Wire Reports The Spokesman-Review

Paris Hilton is, apparently, trying to pull a Charles Barkley.

Remember when the former NBA star declared to the world, “I am not a role model”? Hilton is trying to speak louder with her actions.

The 25-year-old celebrity pleaded not guilty Tuesday to misdemeanor drunken driving charges following her arrest last Sept. 7 for allegedly weaving around a Hollywood street in her Mercedes-Benz.

Hilton’s attorney, Shawn Chapman, entered the pleas on her behalf to one count each of driving under the influence and driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or above.

Judge Michael T. Sauer set a Jan. 23 pretrial hearing date and said the case must go to trial by Feb. 23.

The charges carry a maximum sentence of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. However, the minimum penalty for a first-time offender is a fine, probation and participation in an alcohol rehabilitation program.

Hilton claimed she may have been “speeding a little bit” on her way to get a hamburger after filming a music video all day without eating. Police said she appeared intoxicated and failed a field sobriety test.

Swank back in dating ranks

Two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank, 32, has a new man in her life. She just won’t say who. The actress, who split from actor-husband Chad Lowe a year ago, told In Style magazine that, “I’m in a relationship with a great guy who’s not a public person, and I want to respect that.” The magazine claims the “guy” is her agent, John Campisi.

“I’ve never lived alone before, ever,” said Swank “I went from living with my mom right to living with Chad. Now with my traveling a lot and not staying any place for long, I have a box filled with floating receipts, makeup I’ll never wear, random dog toys and a stack of greeting cards I pick out for friends, which inevitably end up in some storage unit.”

Clive’s skin care thrives

British actor Clive Owen, 42, may specialize in playing tough guys on the big screen, but in real life he’s a mere softie. Owen will be the face in ads for Lancome’s new men’s grooming products, including a fragrance and anti-aging skin-care line.

“The way he has built his career so far, privileging the quality of the director rather than the high-profile nature of a role, makes us feel very confident in the fact that if he chose to accept this collaboration with Lancome,” said Odile Roujol, general manager of Lancome International.

The British actor joins a stable of other well-known faces in Lancome ads: Top models Daria Werbowy and Shalom Harlow are spokeswomen, and Uma Thurman and Isabella Rossellini previously appeared in ads.
