Cardinals land new coach

The Arizona Cardinals hired Ken Whisenhunt, Pittsburgh’s offensive coordinator, on Sunday to replace head coach Dennis Green, who was fired after going 16-32 in three seasons.

The 44-year-old coach signed a four-year contract with a team option for a fifth, and is to be introduced at a news conference on Tuesday.

Whisenhunt becomes the Cardinals’ eighth coach since the franchise moved to Arizona in 1988.

The Cardinals have had one winning season – and one playoff appearance – since 1984. They have one playoff victory since winning the NFL championship in 1947.

Dodgers offer all-you-can-eat

The Los Angeles Dodgers will give fans something to chew on next season: all-you-can-eat seats.

The right-field pavilion at Dodger Stadium will be converted into the special section, giving around 3,000 fans as many hot dogs, peanuts, popcorn, nachos and sodas as they want.

Tickets will sell for $35 in advance and $40 on game day, and some items at the concession stand aren’t in play – beer, ice cream and candy will be sold separately at regular prices.

Tickets in left field, meanwhile, will be $10.

Redick adjusting to limited role

J.J. Redick no longer is the go-to guy. He’s not even the guy behind the guy, or the guy behind him.

“I’m the 14th guy on this team, 15th guy,” the Orlando Magic rookie said recently after his career-best NBA night – nine points on 2-of-3 shooting.

That would have been a subpar first half for Redick about this time last year, when he averaged 27 points a game at Duke on his way to becoming a repeat All-American and Associated Press Player of the Year.

The Magic have played more than 30 games this year, and the rookie has appeared in just eight of them for a total of 95 minutes.

Miami narrowing search for coach

Former Atlanta Falcons coach Jim Mora Jr. has been invited to a second interview with the Miami Dolphins, who also plan to meet again with Georgia Tech coach Chan Gailey and New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.

Dolphins officials pared down their list of candidates over the weekend. The team met with 12 coaches during the first round of interviews.

Last week, the Dolphins said they planned to narrow the list to five candidates, then to two before making an offer.
